Our Company would like to offer either yourself, or a boating friend the opportunity to read about our Product, and then finally purchase an “Anka Yanka” from ourselves which will contribute significantly to your every fishing/boating trip in terms of retrieving the anchor. Let’s face it, this can be a demanding task as the best of times, and even in perfect sea conditions. The “Anka Yanka” can be used by both Motor Boat and Sailboat as long as the craft under power can achieve a speed of 6 to 8 knots which is the minimum requirement for the “Anka Yanka” to perform its function both efficiently and effectively.

The Management Team of Anchor Retrieval Solutions have had the unfortunate experience of fouling their propeller in Force 4-5 sea conditions due to a small craft cutting its anchor rope, as they obviously decided that it was far too dangerous to pull in their anchor. This action resulted in the Barry Dock Lifeboat being called out to rescue our 30 foot fishing boat Hannah as the anchor rope had wrapped itself round the propeller, thus immobilising the craft. This caused several thousand pounds of damage to the boats gearbox and stern gear as a result. Over the years some of our boating colleagues have also experienced their engines being ripped off their engine beds as a result of having an anchor rope wrapping around their propeller and stern gear. This may seem extreme but it’s a fact, and small boat owners need an anchor retrieval device like the “Anka Yanka” to prevent such occurrences taking place. We were lucky on the occasion the life boat came to our rescue in time, but for some one in the future, they may be less fortunate than we were.

This experience provided the beginning for the formation of Anchor Retrieval Solutions and we are committed to the goal of providing an Anchor Retrieval Device which is capable of being used by craft from 14 Feet LOA to 40 Feet LOA, and which can be operated from the cockpit. This minimises the need to stand up and sit on the bow to pull up the anchor rope. This reduces the physical strain and effort required to undertake this operation and helps to prevent pulled muscles or back strain. You have to remember that this necessary operation is a task which all boats and crew have to perform at some time, and if you have to do it up to 10 times in day, it can leave you physically tired and this is not a situation you must have whilst at sea.

The very fact that you want to visit this Web Site indicates that you know you have a problem in retrieving your anchor(s) already, and are looking for a solution which is cost effective, safe and efficient, or you are already using an alternative product that has not met your expectations and is not user friendly.

The Management Team of Anchor Retrieval Solutions have 70 years boating experience between them, gained mainly in the Bristol Channel which runs between South Wales and the South West of England. The Bristol Channel is renowned for the unforeseen difficult sea conditions which can make the retrieving operation of the boats anchor both uncomfortable and dangerous if not carried out correctly. So speed and efficiency are required if both crew and craft have to retrieve the anchor and make for home port as soon as possible. It was this challenge that led to the search for an efficient anchor retrieval lifting device, which we believe after testing many others to have found, and be very confident that once you have purchased an “Anka Yanka” from us, should, if used correctly last you your entire boating career.

The larger the boat, the larger the ground tackle (Anchor rope, Chain and Anchor itself) and the amount of physical effort and risk of personal injury cannot be under estimated in pulling this combined weight of anchor, chain and the boat itself against wind and tide. This site also offers practical advice on anchoring, and how to prepare yourself and crew for this critical task which has to be planned in order to avoid dangerous situations for both the crew and the boat itself. As the Skipper of a boat you have to consider this responsibility and train your crew in using equipment, as well as promoting safety as a key rule before heading out to sea. All crew members have to know their responsibilities, and if one is ill, the other crew member has a deputy. The old adage of, “ Practice Makes Perfect”, has never been further from the truth, and this applies to using this unique smart product the “Anka Yanka”, that we have to offer you as Boat Skipper. Alternatively you may be a Competent Crew member wishing to make your contribution of a days’ boating a lot easier for yourself personally, and the “Anka Yanka” can easily do that.

The “Anka Yanka” is suitable for use in all sea states up to Force 6-7 and has sold in the thousands overseas, especially in the USA, New Zealand, and Australia where it was designed. The Australian design also holds a Worldwide Patent.

Anchor Retrieval Solutions are proud to be the European and UK Distributor of this Innovative Product, which will benefit all boating enthusiasts of all ages and varying experience.

In the Summer months the sea state is usually kind, but for the Spring, Autumn and Winter, the boat skipper is faced with inclement weather and having to set and retrieve the boat anchor in varying sea conditions. The greater the force placed on the anchor by the boat as a result of Wind, Sea State and Tide Race, the deeper it will dig into the seabed, and therefore the harder it will be to retrieve as this needs to be broken out. There is also the temperature of the Sea and Sea level to consider compounded by Wind Chill which can lead to cold numb hands pulling on the anchor rope to retrieve it. We are sure you can identify with this, and agree that a simple solution needs to be at hand.

The simplest anchor retrieval device is the “Alderney Ring” which is sold in many diameters ranging from 6 inches to 12 inches. The price ranges from £16 to £30 for an “Alderney Ring”, and most are made from Stainless Steel, but whether they are guaranteed to be made from Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel is another question. There is also the quality of workmanship which can vary as well. The “Alderney Ring” does not tend to have a Safe Working Load (S.W.L.) as a guarantee which indicates the application. The “Anka Yanka” has an operational capacity to handle combined weights of Anchor and Chain up to 50 kg and can accommodate all anchor types and has the advantage of being able to attach and detach as the Skippers leisure which is also in operational circumstances adds to the boats and crews safety.
